KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A motorcyclist died Friday after a crash involving another vehicle near the 11400 block of Outlets Drive in Knoxville, the Knox County Sheriff Office said, and investigators remained on the scene into the evening.

Deputies responded a little after 5 p.m. Friday to the wreck in the Outlets Drive corridor in west Knox County near Farragut. The crash involved a motorcycle and another car. The rider was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

One account said the motorcyclist was taken to UT Medical Center. Around 7 p.m., the sheriff office crash reconstruction team known as TANGO was on scene and actively investigating. As of Friday night, the office said the probe remained ongoing and that updates would follow as needed.

Authorities had not released the rider name or details about the other driver as of the Friday night updates. No information about charges or impairment had been announced. Investigators were still determining how the collision unfolded.

Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler office handles major crash reconstruction across the county, including the Outlets Drive commercial corridor. Mayor of Knoxville Indya Kincannon administration and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs office routinely track fatal roadway trends that affect west Knoxville and Farragut travel patterns.

State highway safety tallies cited in local coverage show more than 650 fatal crashes statewide so far this year, including 43 in Knox County. Those figures were down from the same point in 2025, when Knox County had recorded 50 fatal crashes by the comparable date.

Anyone who saw the Friday wreck or has video from the Outlets Drive area was asked to contact the Knox County Sheriff Office. Further details were expected once next-of-kin notifications and vehicle examinations are complete.
