KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Polls in Knoxville, Tenn., and across Knox County open at 8 a.m. today for Election Day and stay open until 8 p.m., the Knox County Election Commission said. That start is an hour later than in Nashville, where voting begins at 7 a.m. Anyone already in line when polls close at 8 p.m. will still be allowed to vote.

Voters will get a two-page ballot that carries three proposed constitutional amendments, and the commission is urging people to read up on those questions before they go. Each voter must cast a ballot at the location assigned to their precinct.

Five precincts have new Election Day sites this year. Precinct 61E now votes at Faithway Baptist Church, 4402 Crippen Road, instead of Halls High School. Precinct 63 moves from Karns Elementary School to Karns High School, 2710 Byington Solway Road. Precinct 66SE shifts from Farragut High School to the Korean Church of Knoxville, 108 Farlow Drive. Precinct 68 now votes at the Election Commission office at Downtown West, 1645 Downtown West Blvd., Unit 40, rather than Cedar Bluff Middle School.

In southeast Knox County, Precinct 77 has been closed and folded into Precinct 78. Voters from both now go to Marbledale Baptist Church, 5935 Thorn Grove Pike, which takes the place of Asbury United Methodist Church. The county posts a full list and map of polling places on its election page.

Bring a government photo ID from Tennessee or a federal agency, such as a Tennessee handgun carry permit with a photo. Mail ballots that might not arrive in time can be taken to the front counter of the downtown post office at 501 West Main Street or the Weisgarber Road post office at 1237 Weisgarber Road, where they must be hand-stamped by 4 p.m. today.
