KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Democrat Bryan Goldberg ousted Republican state Rep. Elaine Davis in West Knoxville’s House District 18 on Tuesday, and Knox County voters broke from the rest of Tennessee by backing Democrat Jerri Green for governor, unofficial returns show.

Goldberg won 14,020 votes, or about 55%, to 11,452 for Davis. The Knox County Election Commission had all 102 precincts counted by its 5:23 a.m. update Wednesday.

In the race for governor, Green carried the county with 76,116 votes to 66,600 for Republican Marsha Blackburn, with independent David Hatley at 11,298. Statewide, though, Blackburn won and will become the first woman elected governor of Tennessee when she replaces term-limited Gov. Bill Lee in January.

Other contests were tight inside the county. U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty, a Republican who won another term, edged Democrat Marquita Bradshaw among Knox County voters by fewer than 3,000 votes, 78,503 to 75,557. U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, also re-elected, led Democrat Michaela Barnett in the county by just 1,240 votes, 78,125 to 76,885.

Republicans won the county’s other contested House races. Jason Zachary won District 14, Michele Carringer won District 16, Dave Wright took District 19 and Justin Lafferty won District 89. Democrats Sam McKenzie in District 15 and Gloria Johnson in District 90 had no opponents. In the state Senate, Republican Richard Briggs held District 7 over Democrat Bryan Langan, 33,498 votes to 30,044, and Republican Jimmy Matlock won District 5.

All results remain unofficial until certified.
