Exciting Events in Knoxville: September 1-14, 2024

Knoxville is buzzing with activity as the city gears up for a vibrant series of events from September 1 to September 14, 2024. Whether you’re a local or visiting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during this two-week span. Here’s a rundown of some of the most exciting happenings around town.

September 1 (Sunday)

The fun kicks off on Sunday, September 1, with a variety of activities. Start your day with brunch options, such as Brunch Zen at STIR from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or the Labor Day Weekend Brunch at Balter Beerworks, also from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. If you prefer some relaxation, join the SoundBath Meditation at the Knoxville Botanical Garden from 10:30 am for just $30 (RSVP required).

Markets are also open, including the Eastside Sunday Market at Dr. Walter Hardy Park from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. For a taste of local brews, consider the Brewer’s Tour + Tasting at Printshop Beer, starting at 1:30 pm for $10 to $20 (reservation needed).

The highlight of the day is the 11th Annual Big Kahuna Wing Festival at World’s Fair Park starting at 2:00 pm, featuring music and delicious wings, running until 9:30 pm (tickets from $25).

September 2 (Monday)

Monday brings more festive vibes. Join the Labor Day Sunflower Festival at the Knoxville Botanical Garden from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Afterward, participate in the Blue Plate Special at noon, featuring performances that lighten your holiday mood.

Evening options include Open Mic Night at Barrelhouse Knoxville from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, or enjoy some live jazz at Bistro at the Bijou starting at 7:00 pm.

September 3 (Tuesday)

On Tuesday, the Coming Into View Exhibit opens at the McClung Museum from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Throughout the day, you can also experience the Family Movie Night featuring Secret Life of Pets 1 & 2 at 745 North Broadway from 6:00 pm.

September 4 (Wednesday)

Get your local produce fix at the Market Square Farmers’ Market from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Later, at noon, the free Blue Plate Special features local artists Michael DeLisle and Josee Molavi.

Open Mic Night will be taking over Boyd’s Jig & Reel starting at 7:00 pm, making it a great venue for local talent!

September 5 (Thursday)

Thursday’s festivities begin with the 2024 Local Leadership Summit from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. In the evening, join the Blue Plate Special at noon and check out the Patti LaBelle concert at the Tennessee Theatre at 7:00 pm. If you wish for some local flavor, the Transcendent Cabaret Drag Show is a must-see at Bernadette’s starting at 10:00 pm.

September 6 (Friday)

The weekend kicks off with the First Friday ArtWalk, when galleries and artists open their doors for the public from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Visitors can appreciate local art while enjoying live music and food.

September 7 (Saturday)

On Saturday, join the Smart Yards and Friends Festival at UT Gardens from 9:00 am and explore wellness options at the Queer & Trans Yoga event at Glowing Body Yoga from 12:30 pm.

One must not miss the One Knoxville Beer Fest starting at 4:30 pm, or the BINGO Night at Scruffy’s Cafe at 7:00 pm, both of which promise a fun time!

September 8 (Sunday)

Sunday wraps up the weekend with the 11th Knox Asian Festival at World’s Fair Park from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, celebrating cultural diversity with food, music, and more.

Also happening is the Second Sunday Art Activity at the Knoxville Museum of Art from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where the community can come together for creative activities.

September 9-14
