                    Whittle Springs Golf Course
                    Rosa D. • Jul 13, 2026
Whittle Springs is Knoxville's old municipal standby and it still plays fun despite its age — hilly, tight, and a real workout walking it. Greens fees are the best deal in the city and the layout has more character than a lot of newer courses trying too hard.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #5 — blind uphill tee shot over a ridge **Toughest Green:** Hole #11 — small and sloped toward a front bunker **Best Food:** Hot dog and a canned Coke at the shack

Willow Creek out in Farragut is a well-kept secret — Gary Player Design layout with tight tree corridors and water on more holes than you'd expect. Greens were rolling smooth after aeration had healed up. Great option if Holston Hills isn't in the cards.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #17 — par 3 over a pond that plays longer into the wind **Toughest Green:** Hole #8 — tiered and fast, three-putt territory if you're above the hole **Best Food:** Turkey wrap from the grill room

                    Three Ridges Golf Course
                    Ellen K. • Jul 13, 2026
Played Three Ridges with a couple friends on a hot afternoon and the elevation changes on this course are no joke — every approach felt like it was uphill. Conditioning was solid for a public track and the staff kept pace moving even with a full tee sheet. Good value round.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #7 — steep uphill par 4 that plays a club longer **Toughest Green:** Hole #12 — elevated and tricky to read from below **Best Food:** Chicken tenders and lemonade at the snack bar

                    Egwani Farms Golf Club
                    Todd S. • Jul 13, 2026
Egwani Farms out toward Rockford is a legit test for a public course — rolling terrain, a lot of forced carries over creeks, and greens that hold approach shots better than most munis. Slow to fill up on a weekday morning so we basically had the back nine to ourselves.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #14 — forced carry over a creek to a raised green **Toughest Green:** Hole #3 — small and well-guarded by a front bunker **Best Food:** Burger basket at the turn

                    Nadia F. • Jul 13, 2026
Got out to Cherokee on the river side of town and the routing along the Tennessee River gives several holes a really dramatic backdrop. Greens were true and quick, staff treated us like members even though we were just guests. Old-school Knoxville golf at its best.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #16 — par 3 playing toward the river with wind swirling **Toughest Green:** Hole #5 — long and narrow, two-putt is a good outcome **Best Food:** Club sandwich and iced tea on the terrace

Played Holston Hills as a member's guest and the 1927 Donald Ross bones are as untouched as advertised — small tilted greens, deep grass-faced bunkers exactly where they should punish you. The hogback second fairway is a great example of Ross using land movement instead of hazards. One of the best rounds of golf in the state, full stop.

**Memorable Hole:** Hole #2 — hogback fairway that kicks tee shots hard either direction **Toughest Green:** Hole #9 — classic Ross crown, nothing holds on the back shelf **Best Food:** Pimento cheese and a bourbon on the porch afterward
