Community members accessing essential medical services at the RAM clinic in Knoxville.
This weekend, Knoxville community members received essential medical services at a free clinic organized by Remote Area Medical. Hosted at the Jacob Building, the clinic offered medical, vision, and dental care without requiring insurance or identification. With operations based on a first-come, first-served policy, patients received vital care while enjoying additional services provided by local health organizations. The clinic is set to continue through Sunday, with plans for more free clinics in the coming weeks, making healthcare accessible to all residents.
Knoxville was the place to be this weekend as the nonprofit organization Remote Area Medical (RAM) rolled into town to host a free clinic at the Jacob Building. On Saturday, locals were treated to a remarkable opportunity to access essential medical, vision, and dental care—all without spending a penny!
This clinic truly opened its doors to everyone, offering services that required neither insurance nor identification. That’s right! You read it correctly—no questions asked, no financial barriers in the way. Many attendees took advantage of this fantastic initiative, knowing they could receive the care they needed, regardless of their ability to pay.
The setup operated on a first-come, first-served basis, which means patients who arrived early had a better chance of receiving the services they desired. However, due to time constraints, some patients found themselves having to pick between dental or vision services. Not to worry, though, as anyone who showed up was guaranteed to receive critical medical services on the spot.
The excitement didn’t stop there! The clinic was scheduled to run into Sunday, giving even more community members the chance to take advantage of these free services. Plus, RAM has plans for another free telehealth clinic set for February 11 in South Knoxville at 712 Boggs Avenue, where medical consultations and basic care will also be available.
For those who may have missed out on this weekend’s event, fear not! RAM is set to host yet another round of free clinics starting February 7 through 9 at the same Jacob Building location. Just like this weekend, participants don’t need to bring insurance or identification for these services, which will include interactive dental checks, vision exams, and general medical assessments.
In addition to the previously mentioned services, attendees can also look forward to educational support and testing from Choice Health Network, which will provide HIV testing and helpful information on prevention and care. Meanwhile, the Metro Drug Coalition will be on hand to educate attendees about drug use and will even have Narcan readily available onsite—great news for those who may need it!
If you’re planning to attend, be sure to keep track of the hours, as the clinic doors open bright and early at 6 a.m. each day. Arriving early is highly recommended to secure your spot. A heads up for February 9: the clinic will feature abbreviated hours, so make sure to arrive as early as possible!
It’s good to note that parking will open no later than midnight on February 6, making it easy to find a spot when you arrive. If the weather takes a turn for the worse or any unforeseen issues pop up, be prepared for possible adjustments to hours and numbers served. Keeping an eye on the situation is essential!
For those eager to learn more about these free clinics, additional details can be found on RAM’s website or by giving them a call at 865-579-1530. Social media enthusiasts can also check out the dedicated Facebook event page for the latest updates.
This weekend has proven to be a fantastic way for Knoxville residents to take charge of their health and well-being. With more opportunities right around the corner, everyone is encouraged to spread the word and take part in these invaluable clinics.
