It’s that time of year again in lovely Knoxville, where residents are gearing up for the annual celebration of springtime beauty with the opening of the 2025 Dogwood Trails season. The kickoff event, a community celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, is taking place this Tuesday, April 1st, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Holston Hills Community Park, located at 1400 S Chilhowee Dr, Knoxville, TN 37914.

The Festivities Begin Soon!

The official ceremony kicks off at 5 PM and will feature heartfelt remarks from Dogwood Arts, City and County officials, and those amazing community volunteers who make this event possible. After the formalities are out of the way, the real celebration starts at 5:30 PM, lasting until 7:30 PM, where families and friends can gather to enjoy the vibrant spirit of our town.

A Walk Through History

This year, the Dogwood Trails, which have touched the hearts of Knoxvillians since they began in 1955, invite us to explore two featured areas: Holston Hills and Morningside. Covering over 90 miles through 13 neighborhoods, the trails are a beautiful testament to the *Spring season* in East Tennessee. Visitors can enjoy several activities, including driving, walking, or biking along these scenic routes that are adorned with colorful blooming dogwoods!

Art and Creativity Abound

As part of the celebrations, the Dogwood Gallery will shine with monthly exhibitions highlighting local and regional artists. On April 4th, make sure to check out the opening of “Seven Decades in Bloom: Celebrating the Legacy of Dogwood Arts,” running from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gallery located at 123 W Jackson Ave. This exhibition promises to showcase the rich history and impact that Dogwood Arts has made in the community over the years!

Fun for Everyone!

Looking for some live tunes? Don’t miss Tavern Notes, with live music every Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM at Maker Exchange, 710 Clinch Ave. And talented artists, be ready for the Chalk Walk event on April 5th, running from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM in Market Square. If you love art, this is the place to be, featuring over 300 artists, food trucks, a beer garden, and activities for the kiddos. With target attendance expected to be over 30,000 people, it’s sure to be a lively scene!

Neighborhood Celebrations and More

There’s so much more in store! On April 5th, head over to Commonplace Coffee & Community from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM for additional community celebrations. The fun continues with the Holston Hills neighborhood celebration at Holston Hills Country Club on April 6th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The garden buffs will want to mark their calendars for the Springtime Stroll event at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens on April 10th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Plus, on April 12th and 13th, enjoy the Spring Featured Gardens event from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Don’t miss the West Hills neighborhood celebration on April 19th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Finale with the Dogwood Arts Festival!

Rounding out the month-long festivities, the Dogwood Arts Festival is set to take center stage at World’s Fair Park from April 25th to 27th. This fabulous celebration will feature over 100 fine art vendors, live music, children’s activities, and a plethora of food and beverage options that will tantalize your taste buds!

Also, keep an eye out for the 2025 Epiphone Student Guitar Design Exhibition & Auction, running from May 2nd to 30th at the Dogwood Arts Gallery, featuring guitars designed by talented local youth artisans, with proceeds benefiting youth art programs at Dogwood Arts.
