High school football game at night

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State wide receiver Cam Bulluck was named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after a career day against UT Martin.

Bulluck caught seven passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers 42-28 setback. He averaged 27.3 yards per catch. The 191 yards are a career high and rank among the top FCS receiving totals this season, and he is one of 14 FCS players this year with three receiving touchdowns in a game.

Late in the first quarter he hauled in a 99-yard touchdown that put Tennessee State ahead, the longest reception by any Division I player this season. He added a 20-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter and a 29-yarder in the fourth quarter. Bulluck now has five receiving touchdowns this season, all in the past two games, which ranks him 12th nationally.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior from Phenix City, Ala., accounted for more than half of Tennessee State 376 passing yards in the game. The conference also listed other offensive nominees from Charleston Southern, Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.

Bulluck has scored five times through the air in his last two outings, giving Tennessee State a deep threat as OVC play continues. The Tigers will try to build on the big-play production while cleaning up the mistakes that led to the home loss to UT Martin.

The award is presented by TicketSmarter and recognizes the top offensive performance across the Ohio Valley Conference each week. Bulluck 99-yard score alone changed the geometry of the UT Martin game and underscored why Tennessee State keeps looking his way on deep routes.
