Knoxville Golf Course Reviews

Whittle Springs Golf Course
Rosa D. • Jul 13, 2026
Whittle Springs is Knoxville's old municipal standby and it still plays fun despite its age — hilly, tight, and a real workout walking it. Greens fees are the best deal in the city and the layout has more character than a lot of newer courses trying too hard.
Memorable Hole: Hole #5 — blind uphill tee shot over a ridge
Toughest Green: Hole #11 — small and sloped toward a front bunker
Best Food: Hot dog and a canned Coke at the shack
Willow Creek Golf Club
Nathan V. • Jul 13, 2026
Willow Creek out in Farragut is a well-kept secret — Gary Player Design layout with tight tree corridors and water on more holes than you'd expect. Greens were rolling smooth after aeration had healed up. Great option if Holston Hills isn't in the cards.
Memorable Hole: Hole #17 — par 3 over a pond that plays longer into the wind
Toughest Green: Hole #8 — tiered and fast, three-putt territory if you're above the hole
Best Food: Turkey wrap from the grill room
Three Ridges Golf Course
Ellen K. • Jul 13, 2026
Played Three Ridges with a couple friends on a hot afternoon and the elevation changes on this course are no joke — every approach felt like it was uphill. Conditioning was solid for a public track and the staff kept pace moving even with a full tee sheet. Good value round.
Memorable Hole: Hole #7 — steep uphill par 4 that plays a club longer
Toughest Green: Hole #12 — elevated and tricky to read from below
Best Food: Chicken tenders and lemonade at the snack bar
Egwani Farms Golf Club
Todd S. • Jul 13, 2026
Egwani Farms out toward Rockford is a legit test for a public course — rolling terrain, a lot of forced carries over creeks, and greens that hold approach shots better than most munis. Slow to fill up on a weekday morning so we basically had the back nine to ourselves.
Memorable Hole: Hole #14 — forced carry over a creek to a raised green
Toughest Green: Hole #3 — small and well-guarded by a front bunker
Best Food: Burger basket at the turn

Hit Them Long...
Longest drive. Craziest shot. Hole in one. Brag about it.
Camden
Whittle Springs' 9th is a short, old-school muni par-4 that lets a long hitter go for it. Drove it to the front edge, then chipped in from the fringe for the two. Whittle Springs has been hosting Knoxville golfers since the 1930s, and that finishing hole still has some magic left in it.
Whittle Springs Golf Course -- Hole #9 — old muni par-4 finishing hole Eagle
Truett
Willow Creek's 16th bends hard right around a stand of hardwoods that punishes anyone cutting the corner. Played it safe with a 3-iron to the fairway, then a wedge to ten feet, and buried the putt. Farragut's public golf scene is stronger than people give it credit for, and Willow Creek is the proof.
Willow Creek Golf Club -- Hole #16 — dogleg-right par-4 Birdie
Ivy
Three Ridges' 12th drops from an elevated tee toward a green framed by the Smoky foothills. Hit a punched 8-iron that held its line in the wind and settled six feet away. Made the putt for birdie. The view off that tee box alone is worth the green fee.
Three Ridges Golf Course -- Hole #12 — elevated tee par-3 Birdie
Mix Them Strong...
Your favorite 19th hole. Where do you go after the round?
Camden
Walked off Whittle Springs and drove to Alliance Brewing in South Knox. Session IPA on the industrial patio, the chip-in eagle getting its due praise. An old muni round always deserves a cold, unpretentious finish.
Alliance Brewing Company -- Session IPA
Truett
Off Willow Creek and out to Schulz Bräu on Sutherland. Cold Kolsch on the biergarten patio, the dogleg birdie getting retold. Farragut golf and a German beer garden pair better than you'd expect.
Schulz Bräu Brewing Company -- Kolsch
Ivy
Left Three Ridges and drove downtown to Balter Beerworks. Wild Ridge Pale Ale, old fire station charm, the Smoky foothills view still fresh in mind. A good round deserves a good stop, and Balter delivers.

Knoxville Golf FAQ

Common questions about golf in the Knoxville area, answered.
  • The First Tee of Greater East Tennessee also serves the region.

HEREKnoxville’s golf desk covers every course, every tournament, and every story shaping golf in Knoxville, Knox County, and the wider East Tennessee region. Knoxville sits in one of the deepest golf pockets in the state — Holston Hills Country Club is a Donald Ross original (1927) and one of the most celebrated classical layouts in the South, while Cherokee Country Club (1907) has anchored the city’s private-club scene for more than a century. Coverage spans the private members’ clubs (Holston Hills, Cherokee, Fox Den Country Club, Beaver Brook), the destination communities (WindRiver in Lenoir City, Avalon in Loudon County, Tennessee National, Rarity Bay), and Knox County’s strong public rotation — Three Ridges Golf Course, Dead Horse Lake, Knoxville Municipal, Whittle Springs, and Willow Creek in Farragut.

Tournament coverage tracks Tennessee Golf Association (TGA) championships hosted at regional venues, TSSAA high-school championships for Knox County and East Tennessee programs, and the University of Tennessee Volunteers men’s and women’s golf teams — Tennessee golf regularly qualifies for NCAA regionals and has produced multiple PGA TOUR pros. Additional college programs at the University of Tennessee, Maryville College, and Carson-Newman round out the collegiate calendar. Course-condition reports pull directly from the National Weather Service Morristown office when East Tennessee ice storms, mountain thunderstorms, or Tennessee Valley heat events affect play. HEREKnoxville also tracks club-pro hires, renovation news at the classical Ross and Cupp designs, and the small-business sponsorships flowing into First Tee of Greater Knoxville and other junior-golf programs across Knox County.
