SAUCIER, Miss. — The University of Tennessee men’s golf team, ranked No. 9 nationally, wraps its fall college schedule this weekend at Fallen Oak, a 54-hole invitational on the Tom Fazio layout deep in De Soto National Forest.
Play runs Oct. 17-19 at Fallen Oak Golf Course, with 18 holes each day beginning Saturday. The par-72 layout is expected to stretch near 7,487 yards for the weekend.
Tennessee is among six SEC programs sitting inside the national top 10. Three Vols also sit inside the national top 100 individually: Sautron at No. 30, Pardue at No. 43 and Herrington at No. 84.
The field packs six programs inside the national top 20, topped by Arkansas at No. 1 and Alabama at No. 4, plus host Mississippi State and other SEC and regional squads. Tennessee is making only its second trip to Fallen Oak after a sixth-place finish last fall.
The Vols arrive after a strong showing at the Cullan Brown Collegiate, where the team won by 22 strokes while Pardue shared the individual title. Herrington has three straight top-20 finishes, and Sautron closed that event with a 4-under 67.
Live scoring is posted through the school’s athletics site as Tennessee tries to finish the fall slate against one of the deepest college fields of the season.
Tee times start Saturday morning on the Mississippi Gulf Coast layout, with the final round Monday. Coaches have used the fall events to rotate lineup spots while keeping Sautron, Pardue and Herrington near the top of the order for SEC play that follows in the spring.
A top-five team finish at Fallen Oak would give the Vols momentum heading into winter training and the early spring slate, where several of this weekend’s opponents will show up again on the SEC schedule.
