Knoxville – A Knoxville man has been arrested following a significant drug seizure linked to a multi-agency investigation into drug trafficking in the area. Authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of 45-year-old Charles Sherman Hicks on July 16, where they uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, firearms, and cash.

The investigation into the sale and distribution of large amounts of cocaine, marijuana, and other narcotics began earlier this year and was conducted collaboratively by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Drug Investigation Division, the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The law enforcement agencies identified Hicks as a supplier during their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in Blount and Knox Counties.

When authorities executed the search warrant at Hicks’ home located on the 6400 block of Sevierville Pike, they discovered approximately one kilogram of cocaine. In addition to the cocaine, law enforcement officials seized around sixteen pounds of marijuana and over 160 grams of what are believed to be pressed fentanyl pills. Multiple oxymorphone pills were also found at the residence, alongside a handgun.

During the investigation, financial assets were also targeted, leading to the confiscation of more than $35,000 in cash, several vehicles, and various other items associated with drug trafficking.

Following the search, Hicks was arrested and is currently facing multiple charges, including:

  • Possession of Schedule II Drugs for Resale
  • Possession of Schedule VI Drugs for Resale
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Dangerous Felony
  • Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Use
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Hicks, born on December 2, 1977, is currently being held in the Knox County Jail. As with all criminal charges, it is important to note that Hicks is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This case exemplifies the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement and federal agencies to address the challenges posed by drug trafficking in the region. The Knoxville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) also assisted in the investigation, which aims to disrupt the circulation of illicit substances within the community.

Authorities continue to urge residents to report any suspicious activities that may relate to drug use or trafficking, as community involvement is critical in combating these illegal operations. As the investigation progresses, further details may emerge regarding the extent of drug distribution networks in the area.
