KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Spokane Velocity clinched a USL League One playoff berth with a 2-0 win over One Knoxville at Covenant Health Park in Knoxville, spoiling the home side regular-season home finale.
Spokane struck first in the 18th minute on a right-footed shot from the center of the penalty box and added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute with a similar finish. One Knoxville could not answer in front of its home crowd in what was billed as its final home match of the regular season.
The result sends the Velocity to the playoffs for the third straight season. Spokane lost in the USL League One final in each of its first two seasons, and the club has now reached the postseason every year of its existence.
Despite the loss, One Knoxville stays ahead of Spokane in the table. Knoxville sits at 14-8-9, one point ahead of Spokane, which moved to 15-8-5 with 50 points and sixth place in the standings.
Madison holds third at 15-8-7. Only two points separate Spokane from Madison, and the Velocity have two games in hand on the No. 3 club. Spokane has four regular-season games left, and the playoffs begin Oct. 30, setting up a tight race for seeding over the final weeks.
One Knoxville SC plays its home schedule at Covenant Health Park, the downtown stadium it shares with the Knoxville Smokies. Soccer home games at the ballpark run from March through October, and this match closed out the home slate.
The ballpark opened downtown in 2025, when the Smokies began play in the new stadium, giving Knoxville a shared home for its pro baseball and pro soccer teams. One Knoxville now turns its full focus to the playoff push and the race for seeding.
