Knoxville, Tenn. — Tennessee is likely to see Alabama without its top receiver when the Crimson Tide visit Neyland Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 17, after coach Kalen DeBoer said Ryan Coleman-Williams is dealing with knee and head injuries.
DeBoer said on Oct. 12 there was a good chance Coleman-Williams would not be available this weekend and that his status would probably be week-to-week after that. No. 14 Tennessee (5-1, 2-1 SEC) hosts Alabama (5-1, 3-1) at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC in the annual Third Saturday in October rivalry.
Coleman-Williams left Saturday’s rivalry game against Georgia twice. He first went down after trying to make a catch in the end zone and returned shortly after, then left again after a big hit from Georgia safety KJ Bolden and was evaluated for a concussion. He had three receptions for 39 yards in that game.
The junior has been Alabama’s most productive pass-catcher through six games. He is tied for the team lead with 23 receptions and leads the Crimson Tide with 415 yards and three touchdowns. In two prior games against Tennessee in 2024 and 2025, he totaled 13 catches for 160 yards and a touchdown.
Without him, Alabama would lean on sophomore Lotzeir Brooks, who also has 23 catches for 389 yards, and junior Rico Scott, who has 224 receiving yards and three touchdowns. DeBoer also said center Racin Delgatty and defensive tackle Terrance Green are dealing with leg injuries and will be evaluated during the week.
For the Vols, the news trims one of the biggest threats on the Alabama side of the field heading into one of the most anticipated home games of the season in Knoxville.
