History
Norwood was known as Tillerytown after a prominent local family until around 1930, when the Norwood name was adopted. The community transitioned from a farming area to a residential suburb in the 1950s as Oak Ridge, TVA, and railroad workers and returning WWII veterans purchased homes; Norwood was annexed into the City of Knoxville in 1963.
