Location
Parkridge is located off Magnolia Avenue in East Knoxville, encompassing much of the historic footprint of the former city of Park City, per the Knoxville History Project's neighborhood history.

History
The area was originally known as Shieldstown before becoming part of Park City, an independent municipality from 1907 until its 1917 annexation by Knoxville. Standard Knitting Mills, once the neighborhood's dominant employer with more than 3,000 workers, operated nearby until its 1989 closure; the Parkridge Community Organization has led ongoing historic preservation and revitalization efforts since the 1980s.
