History
Developed starting in the 1920s as one of Knoxville's first true automobile suburbs, the neighborhood was named for Sequoyah, the Cherokee scholar who invented the Cherokee syllabary. It remains one of the best-preserved collections of early-to-mid-20th-century residential architecture in East Tennessee.
